St. Petersburg Beach Florida 2004

A couple of very good friends of mine, Connie and Craig, got married on St. Pete Beach in October of 2000 at the Bon Air Resort.  Since then, every year on their anniversary, they return to the scene of the crime.  Similar to their wedding, about 30 or 40 of us also attend (or as Craig refers to us "We're Family!")  Now since most of us fly down there we have to make several shopping trips the first day.  The first stop is the Pass De Grill thrift shop run by the local church to get blenders and juicers for the frozen drinks, then the Publix grocery store for beer, snacks, food, beer, beach chairs, beer and then on to Norman's and Pappy's liquor stores for the really good stuff.  The gift shop has half off on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  If it weren't for Janet testing the "You break it, you bought it" theory we probably could have gotten out of there for less than five bucks.  After unloading everything we set up for several days of hanging out by Sandbar Bill's beach bar, the beach, occasional side trips to John's Pass (an old fishing village that is now restaurants and gift shops at Madeira Beach) golfing, visiting family that lives nearby, going to Player's Sports Bar to watch the football game and sampling some of the other restaurants and bars up and down St. Pete Beach.  Mornings usually find the group walking about 2 miles down the beach to an open air restaurant called the Sea Side Grill for breakfast.  This place has coffee cups from all over the world.  Connie and Craig have brought them boxes of cups in the past, so this year I cleaned out all my old ones and brought them down.  Friday (or was it Saturday?, kind of lose track of time down there) Craig's brother Glen and his wife Carol brought all the fixins for a good old crab and shrimp boil on the beach.  Archie prepared some delicious deserts and naturally there were a few specialty drinks, like Bill's "Smoothies" to keep us all from getting thirsty.  That's about all I can remember with what brain cells I have left, enjoy the pictures.
